SUMMARY:2019 Cape Town Baroque Festival
DESCRIPTION:Since 2017\, the annual Cape Town Baroque Festival (CTBF)\, presented by Camerata Tinta Barocca\, has been a highlight in the Cape Town music scene. After the successes and exponential growth of the 2017 and 2018 baroque festivals\, Camerata Tinta Barocca (CTB) will present the third Cape Town Baroque Festival (CTBF) from 18 to 24 September 2019. In keeping with previous years the festival has the aim of bringing together practitioners of early music and a historically informed performance approach from across South Africa\, and also to invite international leaders in the field. This not only gives the Cape Town audiences the opportunity of hearing artists from further afield\, but also creates an opportunity for creative exchange amongst local and international artists. All of the festival events (eight events spread out over seven days) take place in historical buildings in the Cape Town city centre\, celebrating Cape Town’s architectural heritage. This ties in with the fact that the festival is hosted over Heritage Weekend each year. \nThe theme of the 2019 CTBF will be ‘Diversity in early music’ and it will celebrate the variety of styles and genres found within the broader Baroque period\, the broad range of performance approaches currently being practiced by different schools of playing\, as well as the diversity of musicians working in early music within South Africa and abroad. The 2019 festival programme features and exciting line-up of local and international early music specialists and ensembles. \nThe full festival programme is available for download from the festival page: www.ctbaroque.co.za/festival\nDate: 18-24 September 2019\nVenue: Various venues across Cape Town\nTickets: Ticket sales are open. Tickets can be purchased on Webtickets\, in-store at any Pick ‘n Pay supermarket or cash at the door. Pre-booking is recommended. Click here to purchase tickets online.\nEnquiries: Email info@ctbaroque.co.za \n  \n
