DESCRIPTION:Antonio Vivaldi’s cycle of descriptive violin concertos\, “The Four Seasons”\, counts among the most famous music ever devised. However\, another cycle of four recorder concertos with descriptive titles by the same composer has remained in (relative) obscurity\, namely: \n\nConcerto La Francia (France)\nConcerto La Spagna (Spain)\nConcerto L’Inghilterro (England)\nConcerto Il Gran Mogol (India)\n\nThe three concertos La Francia\, La Spagna\, L’Inghilterro and the original version of Il Gran Mogul are unfortunately lost. \nThe Cape Town Baroque Orchestra is happy to present Matthias Maute’s reconstruction of these four concerti\, with the virtuoso Maute himself as soloist.
